Pros

The RENPHO AI-Powered exercise bike allows you to completely customize your workout for a personalized training experience. The AI technology adapts to your biometrics to generate workouts best suited for you. Included in your purchase is a free app with 70+ classes. This clever exercise bike is suited for ages 15–70 at any fitness level.

Cons

In order to benefit from the AI functionality of the RENPHO AI-powered bike, you need to use your own tablet rather than any built-in functionality in the console. The app also lags behind such competitors as Peloton and Echelon in terms of number of courses (though those competitors are not free).

Bottom Line

The RENPHO AI-Powered bike is an exciting newcomer to the artificial intelligence home exercise space. It provides a customized workout experience based on your biometric feedback (heart rate, pulse, power wattage, etc.), has a minimalistic but sturdy frame, and comes with a free app that features a ton of options. On top of that, it is considerably less expensive than its AI competitors. You’ll need a decent-sized tablet to use as a monitor, but if you’re good with that, this is a good investment that will deliver a consistent, quality, personalized workout.

AI Technology

RENPHO is a Hong Kong-based manufacturer of smart technology products including smart scales, air purifiers, and massagers. The RENPHO AI-Powered Bike is their first foray into the home fitness equipment market and was released early in 2021.

The unique selling point of the RENPHO AI is that it tailors itself to your biometrics and power level to algorithmically create a personalized training program for you. The resistance level automatically adjusts according to your power output, goals, level, and cycling cadence. This allows you to train more efficiently and get better results faster.

Your purchase of the RENPHO AI bike provides you with access to the AI GYM app, which includes more than 70 different workout courses. It also has 4 training modes:  beginner, fat-burning (providing the best workout for weight loss I’ve come across in a while), endurance, and muscle strength. The class options include coach-led video classes, power training programs, and HD scenic rides. The training programs are created by fitness professionals at Les Mills.

The RENPHO AI-Powered Bike makes use of advanced technology in the form of smart motor dampening resistance. This contrasts with the electromagnetic resistance technology that is used on many bikes. As a result, you get a far more precise exercise experience, with 90% or greater accuracy. This technology will also automatically adjust so that your ride is smoother and more natural. The 32-pound flywheel also ensures a smooth, jerk-free user experience.

The drive train that controls the resistance level of the bike features a brushless servo motor. This allows for precise changes to the resistance to accommodate the feedback that is being received from your body. What that means in real-time is that you will receive resistance inputs that are unique to you, with no two riders experiencing exactly the same levels of resistance.

RENPHO AI-Powered Bike Hardware

The hardware design of the RENPHO AI Bike is quite minimalistic, with a straightforward frame design that is sturdy and functional. The seat features an airflow saddle that is ergonomically designed for enhanced comfort. It is adjustable both vertically and horizontally. The u-shaped handlebars can also be adjusted both ways.

The bike measures 40 x 20 x 49 inches and has a footprint of 3.1 x 4.3 feet, making it compact enough to fit into a small apartment-style environment to provide easy at-home workouts on demand. The pedals on this bike are rear-mounted, which allows for a more complete leg extension on every pedal revolution than you could achieve on a front-mounted pedal system. The bike comes with both the SPD pedals and adjustable toe straps. You are also able to swap out the pedals with your own favorites.

The Renpho AI-Powered Bike uses a belt drive system that is noise-free and low maintenance. In fact, the whole bike is very quiet to operate, which means that you can get your workout session in at any time of the day without interrupting other family members.

The entire bike weighs just 26 pounds, and it features wheels for easy transport. The bike also features a pair of stabilizers with caliper wheels to help you to keep it even on any surface.

What’s Not So Good

The RENPHO AI bike does not feature a console, as you find on the vast majority of exercise bikes. Instead, there is just a holder for you to place your own tablet. If you don’t have a tablet to work with, then you are not going to get much benefit from this exercise bike. The bigger your tablet, the more easily you will be able to see the display when you’re exercising. While you can access the AI GYM app through your phone, you are not going to be able to see the small screen very well when you’re sitting on the bike pedaling.

To get the full functionality from this bike, you need to work through the app. This, of course, requires a Wi-Fi connection. So, if your internet goes down, that, too, is going to be a problem. There are also a few online reviews from verified purchasers that mention technology problems with the app, including losing their user profile data and inability to connect to the app.

Cost

The RENPHO AI-Powered Bike sells for $699. That is quite competitive in the market and considerably cheaper than such AI competitors as Peloton and Echelon. Renpho has made the purchase even more affordable by offering a three-part payment plan at 0% interest over 3 months where you pay $230 per month.

RENPHO AI-Powered Bike: Best Stationary Bike?

If you are specifically looking for an artificial intelligence exercise bike that will automatically adjust the resistance and other programming features to your biometric cues, then the RENPHO AI-Powered bike is a good option. It is more affordable than the competition while providing a similarly immersive experience to what you would get with a Peloton or Echelon bike.
