The Proven Health Benefits of Turmeric

Turmeric has been used medicinally since almost 4000 years ago. Lately, it’s  become one of the most researched and studied spices on the market, beloved by scientists, nutritionists, chefs, and the like. So what is it about this spice that makes it anti-inflammatory gold?

Curcumin. Curcumin belongs in a family of compounds called curcuminoids that are considered an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent—and it’s what makes Turmeric so valuable.

Here’s how supplementing with curcumin can benefit you:

  1. Research shows that curcumin can natural help treatments of colon, stomach, and skin cancers.
  2. It helps all inflammatory issues, like rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, and can help relieve associated pain. 
  3. Gastrointestinal disorders are becoming very common due to poor diets. Curcumin binds and eliminates damaging particles that we ingest in our food that causes inflammation in our gut.
  4. Curcumin helps with brain health. It protects your brain cells against oxidative stress, reduces inflammation, and helps your mitochondria produce energy to make sure you function at your peak. 
  5. The spice has been proven to help lower depression and anxiety. 
  6. It lowers cholesterol levels.
  7. Last but not least, curcumin helps keep your liver healthy. (Did you have a long night drinking? You may want to supplement with turmeric to keep your lver healthy.)

Like any supplement, in order to get the full benefits, you need to take an effective dose. You need between 400-500mg of curcumin per capsule in a quality turmeric supplement like Nature’s Nutrition, or Vimersion Health. And when you do take your supplement, make sure to take it with some sort of fat to help absorption.
