Isopure claims to be a very clean whey protein isolate, and the 0 carbs are appealing to most users.
As mentioned, the price tag is a bit hefty. Isopure has typically been one of the more expensive protein powders on the market. Is this an attempt to reflect the quality? Probably not, if I’m being honest; it’s just another supplement company up-selling their “pure” product. There are plenty of positive reviews, but the negative reviews have a bit more weight to them. Consumers have cited quality differences between batches, reports of smells/odors, zero third party testing to back their health claims, the use of artificial sweeteners to avoid a high carbohydrate count, and it really doesn’t taste good—like at all.
They claim 0 carbs, 0 sugar, with added amino acids and glutamine. The price tag may throw you off a bit, and if you did some research, you would see some negative reviews. The flavors range from unflavored, to cookies and cream, banana cream, and basics like chocolate and vanilla.
This is an ultra-filtered whey protein isolate which is the purest form of protein on the market today. Optimum has added 4g of of glutamine and 5g of amino acids in each serving to help with recovery. Gold Standard is also one of the world’s most trusted sports nutrition brands. Gold Standard whey protein is much more cost effective, tastes great with over 15 flavors including Vanilla Ice Cream, Dulche de Leche, Cake Donut, and Delicious Strawberry. It mixes beautifully and tastes wonderfully. With all the flavors, you’ll never get sick of the same protein month after month.
The cons here are very basic. They do use artificial sweeteners, and the powder also includes continuation lecithin for mixability and soy.
For the fitness lover looking for a well-backed, clean, good tasting protein with seemingly endless options, Optimum Gold Standard is the way to go. There is no benefit to spending the extra dough on Isopure when in reality, the product isn’t as clean as they like to portray. Optimum Nutrition is continuously ranked by third party testers as one of the best companies on the market. Their products are some of the cleanest and most potent. Do yourself a favor, save some cash, and leave with the better brand.

There are way too many protein powders on the market—and it can be extremely overwhelming for anyone, regardless of fitness level. I narrowed the market down to two very popular brands that have been hyped over several years. You might have been surprised by the winner.
When it comes to Isopure, a sub-sub-brand of Nature’s Best, and Gold Standard, a sub-brand of optimum nutrition, there’s really no-nonsense, and no messing around. These brands, with their strong ethics and values, seem to exemplify everything that is right within the fitness industry. The question usually is: are their products actually effective? I hope my opinions were able to give you an answer to that!
