Some situations look impossible, but good communication skills can help you unravel almost any problem and help you be more attentive and persuasive.

Just Listen has a narrow focus that goes very deep. This book concentrates on how listening can help you better persuade others but doesn’t address other skills and strategies that may also help.
Some of the skills discussed in this book are very technically advanced and require consistent practice to learn. While Mark Goulston covers the listening aspect in-depth, it is only the tip of the iceberg. This is why it makes a great companion book to my other top business book recommendations.

It’s likely that you already have good listening skills. Many of them come naturally. You can practice by talking to people you already know and like. The more you practice active listening with someone you’re invested in, the more your listening skills will grow.

Their mirror neurons will also notice your behavior and encourage them to treat you with the same attention and respect.

In addition, if it’s appropriate, try to fit in non-business-centric activities as well, such as sporting events and exercise sessions. I’ve found many business professionals have taken up yoga.
