Rating: 4 out of 5
Pros

Factor meals are delivered ready to eat. These tasty offerings are generally healthy, fresh, and available in accordance with a number of dietary restrictions. They are made from sustainably made ingredients. All meals are prepared in GMP-compliant gluten-free facilities.

Factor provides a wide range of meal options, including breakfasts and entrees. Prices are competitive and they deliver to all 48 contiguous states.

Cons

Some of the meals are very high in saturated fats. That means that health-conscious people will have to check ingredients rather than assuming that the meal will be healthy.

Bottom Line

Factor meals provide a very convenient service at a competitive price. All meals are well prepared and tasty. We definitely recommend this meal prep service but recommend that you check the ingredient listing before ordering.

What is FACTOR?

Factor, previously known as Factor 75, is a meal prep and delivery service. They provide a wide selection of fill-prepared meals, including dinners, breakfasts, snacks, entrees, and drinks.

Customers make their choices from the company’s menu, with meals being delivered fresh and individually portioned. They are ready to be heated in the microwave and enjoyed.

Factor has built its reputation on only using the freshest, sustainably sourced seafood, antibiotic-free poultry, and grass-fed meats. The vast majority of the produce is organically sourced.

We may earn compensation from the products and offers mentioned in this article. However, any expressed opinions are our own and aren’t influenced by compensation. To read our full disclosure, click here.

Here’s how the process works:

  1. You go to the Factor website and select from 27+ dietitian-designed weekly meal options (there are new menu items every week).
  2. Factor’s gourmet chefs prep and cook your food.
  3. Your meal is delivered to your home.
  4. You heat, eat, and enjoy!

Meal deliveries take place between Monday and Wednesday with delivery slots allocated by zip code. This is a subscription service so you are locked in to weekly orders. You can cancel a certain delivery if you happen to be away.

Factor only uses fresh—never frozen—ingredients. Once you receive the meal, the food will remain edible for up to seven days. The company employs a team of dietitians who work closely with the chefs to make sure that every meal is nutritionally balanced and good for you.

Company Reputation

Factor, which used to operate as Factor 75, is based in Illinois. It has an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau. The facilities in which the meals are prepared have always met or exceeded quality control standards set by the State of Illinois Health Department.

Online reviews are generally very positive with people very enthusiastic about the freshness and taste of the menu items. The only complaints I could find related to delays in delivery but these were quite rare.

Factor 75 changed its name to Factor in 2019. According to company co-founder and CEO Mike Apostel, the name change was a reflection of the pairing of menu options in order to offer a more streamlined, simple service.

Healthy Weekly Meal Plan

Factor provides a healthy weekly meal plan to make your food selections. They have gone out of their way to cater to the dietary needs of all members of society. The ordering webpage has meal options under the following categories:

  • ketogenic
  • paleo
  • vegetarian
  • plant-based
  • high protein
  • low carb
  • low calorie
  • spicy
  • dairy-free

One thing I especially appreciated when perusing the website was that every meal described has a complete list of ingredients, along with quite specific nutritional information about that meal. You also get heating instructions, so you know just what to do when you get the meal in hand.

Meal Cost

Factor offers a range of pricing options based on the number of orders. Here’s what the current pricing model looks like:

  • 4 meals/week: $15.00 per meal
  • 6 meals/week: $12.83 per meal
  • 8 meals/week: $12.38 per meal
  • 10 meals/week: $11.99 per meal
  • 12 meals/week: $11.50 per meal
  • 18 meals/week: $11.00 per meal

Who Are Factor Meals For?

Factor meals are ideally suited for busy working people who don’t have the time or skills to prepare their own dinner meals. The service takes all the hassle out of meal time. However, it’s always good to remember to continue to develop your independent cooking skills, even when using a meal service.

Meals for Weight Loss

Factor has done their best to cater to all markets, including people who are wanting to lose weight. They have a range of meals that are all under 500 calories. These meals may help a person to establish a daily caloric deficit.

Factor also provides a wide range of high protein meals. Studies have shown that increasing your lean protein foods intake can help with weight loss by making you feel full and increasing muscle mass potential. The more muscle you carry, the higher your metabolism will be.

Sample Meal Prep Recipes

To give you an idea of what to expect from Factor, here are a couple of menu samples, along with the corresponding meal description:

Creamy Parmesan Chicken with Roasted Broccoli and Tomatoes

Want to enjoy cream sauce in a keto-friendly way? Here, juicy chicken gets a blanket of alfredo-style sauce that’s made with heavy cream, white wine, and Parmesan cheese. Roasted grape tomatoes are tossed with lemon, basil, and garlic to balance the rich sauce. On the side, we pair this dish with roasted broccoli topped with chile-lime butter.

One Pan Creamy Garlic Parmesan | ChickenCee Fade

Chipotle-Rubbed Pork Chop with Roasted Cabbage & Red Bell Pepper Fondue

This dish packs some serious heat! To make it, pork chops are marinated with a housemade Cajun rub and grilled to juicy perfection. To provide a cooling contrast, there’s a creamy side sauce made with mayo, sour cream, hot sauce, and creamed honey. Because no spiced pork chop would be complete without a side, there’s an accompanying salad starring corn, kidney beans, and tons of herbs.

Wrap Up

Factor provides a streamlined meal delivery and preparation service. It offers chef-prepared meals that are delicious, well-balanced, and cost-effective. If you’re a busy person who doesn’t have the time or inclination to spend time in the kitchen, Factor may just be what you need to simplify your life, improve your health, and delight your taste buds.
